Fused glass artists Diane and Keith Gracely share their story. What started as a hobby in July 2025, quickly became an addiction when they discovered the beauty of creating with colorful dichroic glass. Nonetheless a costly addiction and hobby. LOL
At first Diane thought they’d just go to yard sales and flea markets and buy lots of cheap glass to get started. Nope, that’s not how it works. Glass must be bought from actual glass suppliers and it’s not cheap! As new fused glass artists, we found out fast that there was a lot to learn. We began watching YouTube videos. Lots and lots of videos.
Fused Glass Hobby
Fast forward to today, the truth is we fuse glass for something to do to keep ourselves busy. We’re in our 60’s and getting old sucks. When you get older you find yourself wanting something to do to pass time. We don’t want to spend our time selling our finished colorful dichroic glass. We want to keep making it!! So we decided to sell grab bags because it makes selling our creations quick and simple. Plus the sales help us to pay for the cost of the glass and supplies that we need to make fused glass. All metal used in our jewelry making is stainless-steel. Therefore, the more we sell, the more GLASS we can buy to keep creating finished pieces for the bags. See, I told you, it’s an addiction!!! LOL
